Hello my beloved friends and readers, I have been meaning to write for some time, especially during the UK Lockdown period (during which I was at home, my workplace having closed). Unfortunately, like with many other people, my Mental Health took a nosedive and I spiralled down into a nocturnal “sleep n snack” lifestyle. Not good I’m sure you’d agree!
I have now been back at work for two weeks (my employer literally jumped at that grey area to go back to work and maintain social distancing where possible) and so far we are mostly in good health. I’m sceptical that the current restrictions are going to prevent a 2nd wave of COVID-19 in England, as the Great British public seem to be a sterling job of proving that they have absolutely NO common sense at all (Boris is deluded if he thinks the majority of the population do). I have been researching into work health and safety legislation to see what steps and precautions we should have in place because quite frankly nothing in this workplace has changed other than one big table has been turned by 90 degrees to affect a walk way. Already after just two weeks the 2m distance prevention has been mostly forgotten about and some of my colleagues personal hygiene is little better than a pile of week old unwashed dishes. One character that has previously appeared in this Blog, Gremlin, has earned a real reputation as a dirty little excuse for a human. On our FIRST DAY BACK, we had spent all day carefully avoiding each other, cleaning and sanitising our hands etc for her to think the appropriate action to make the finger scanner “work” better was to LICK HER FINGER then stick it on the communal sensor (in front of the Boss and myself)! I don’t know what was worse, thinking back on it; the actual deed or the fact that the Boss watched and said NOTHING! I was the next in the queue and it disgusted me that anyone could be so foul.
I am determined to get some sort of external review done on this place; to hold the Bosses accountable for our safety as it is quite obvious that the only care so far is that we are all back at our stations making them money. #poundsignsforeyes
I have a LOT more to say on so many things. I do hope this will be the first of many posts to herald the return of the Oddity that is me and my life!
Hope you are all keeping well, look after your Mental health as well as the obvious!
Much love to all, especially those who are alone at this difficult time. Hang in there, “this too shall pass”.
